10. BenQ ZOWIE RL2755 – Best Gaming Monitor for PS4 and Xbox One

Not all users searching for the best gaming monitor play PC games.
In fact, quite a few are looking to switch from TVs to gaming monitors for better gameplay.
If this is the case for you, we fully vouch for the BenQ ZOWIE RL255, a fairly priced, mid-range gaming monitor from one of the most respected brands on the market.
Main Features
- 60Hz for console gaming
- 1ms response time
- FPS & FTG modes
- 2 HDMI ports
- Integrated speakers
Design & Usability
Plenty of gamer-friendly features were kept in mind when designing the RL2755, starting with its 27-inch screen size.
With anti-reflection and anti-glare properties, the BenQ unit also boasts a Low Blue Light filter and the company’s ZeroFlicker guarantee.
Thanks to these qualities, you won’t stress your eyes as much when gaming excessively.
You can also tilt and adjust the monitor at your leisure.
With an easy VESA mount system, you’ll have the RL2755 up and running in no time.
The simple setup is actually one of its key benefits in the face of competition.
You can use the versatile unit both as a TV for console gaming and as a computer monitor, and you can take advantage of the two HDMI, D-Sub, DVI-D and line-in ports.
Quality & Performance
According to a lot of happy buyers, the RL2755 is one of the best gaming monitor options in terms of build quality.
The fact that the monitor has built-in speakers is great, but you will most likely end up using your headset in the end.
Prior to purchasing the RL2755, you should be aware that it’s a TN monitor and will provide the associated color reproduction.
Unfortunately, the lack of proper quality control may result in dead pixels or inverse ghosting on your unit.
As for your gaming experience, it will definitely skyrocket if you’re upgrading from a television.
The brand stays true to their advertising and provides an amazing response time 1ms and input lag free gaming.
You can enjoy playing on PS4 and PS3, but also on the Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U and Wii, and a better experience with games like Call of Duty or Game of War.
The Black eQualizer feature is the icing on the cake for this cool monitor.
- Lag-free gaming
- Custom game modes
- Backed up by pro gamers
- Black eQualizer for increased visibility
- Easy setup
- Potential inverse ghosting
- The sound isn’t exceptional
- Color representation could be better
9. ASUS VG278Q – Best 27 Inch Gaming Monitor

With so many eye-catching models dropping every year, it’s quite the challenge to pick the best gaming monitor with a 27-inch screen.
Nonetheless, we fell in love with the ASUS VG278Q, the big brother of the 24-inch VG248QE.
The 9th best-selling product in the Monitor category on Amazon, the VG278Q has more than enough cool features to show off.
Main Features
- FreeSync / Adaptive Sync monitor
- 144Hz refresh rate
- 1ms response time
- 2W stereo speakers
- ASUS Eye Care Technology
Design & Usability
It’s easy to see that the VG278Q is a huge step up from its predecessor.
Instead of incorporating thick bezels that many customers complained about regarding the VG248QE, ASUS redesigned the current 27-inch model with thinner ones.
The monitor is extremely easy to adjust to your desired position, thanks to the +33-degree to 5-degree tilt, 90-degree swivel and pivot, and up to 130 mm height adjustment.
We’re sorry to inform you that the setup process could have been a lot easier.
Multiple users complained about the difficult calibration process, and especially about the lack of a proper instruction manual and need to get detailed steps on the ASUS site.
When you do get the unit all set up though, it’s the best gaming monitor for popular picks like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Diablo 3 or CS: GO.
Quality & Performance
The quality of your gameplay will be wonderful.
Like with the BenQ RL2755, be informed that you’re dealing with a TN panel from the beginning.
All the same, the gaming monitor 144Hz refresh rate is outstanding.
The VG278Q is a significant upgrade for any gamer that used a 60Hz unit beforehand.
It’s nice that you get built-in speakers, but we wish they would have provided better sound quality.
When it comes to performance, you should know that the VG278Q is a beast.
You get a ton of custom features, like 7 GameVisual modes to 4 GamePlus modes, 3 skin tone modes and even 4 color temperature modes.
Trace Free Technology, VividPixel, Smart View technology, HDCP support and Low Blue Light are also among its key features, making it an exceptional choice for serious gamers.
- Great upgrade from 60Hz monitors
- Multiple game modes
- Adjustable stand
- FreeSync support
- Highly responsive
- Calibration may be challenging
- TN panel might be an inconvenience for some users
- Sound quality isn’t amazing
8. Dell UltraSharp U2412M – Best Casual Gaming Monitor

We’re certain that not all of our readers are hardcore gamers.
Some prefer playing casually, or they may just be starting out with gaming in general.
In these situations, you honestly don’t need to invest in the best gaming monitor with a multi-hundred dollar price tag.
Instead, we recommend the Dell UltraSharp U2412M, in our opinion the top monitor for a novice or casual gamers.
Main Features
- 16:10 widescreen aspect ratio
- 7 million colors support
- 1920 x 1200 resolution at 60Hz
- 8ms response time
- Adjustable features
Design & Usability
Despite it being a monitor recommended for casual gaming, it has key properties that will improve your playing experience.
The U2412M has a matte, anti-glare screen, as well as a fully adjustable stand.
Owing to the IPS technology, you can rotate, tilt or swivel your monitor as you please without ruining the viewing angle.
We also like that it’s an environmentally-friendly unit, with Energy Star certification.
The good news for Apple fans is that the U2412M is compatible with desktop Macs.
You can use the monitor not only for casual gaming but also for image editing or watching your favorite TV shows with superior color accuracy.
A slight downside is its lack of USB 3.0 or HDMI support, so you may want to consider another model if these are features you require.
Quality & Performance
Even we were surprised to find out just how durable the U2412M is.
A customer even reported accidentally dropping a large fan onto their unit and not having any reductions in quality.
That’s definitely an aspect to look for in the best gaming monitor.
Aside from the sturdy build, the resolution is also a significant quality of the U2412M. With 1920 x 1200 pixels and a 16:10 aspect ratio, you’ll have a delightful widescreen gaming experience.
Even though its 8ms response time is notably lower than most models on our list, it’s actually pretty alright for casual gaming.
The colors that the U2412M provides are stunning, supporting clean and picture-perfect graphics.
Some games that are confirmed to work like a charm with the U2412M are Wildstar, Borderlands 2, or Castle Crashers, but also the popular Wow, Diablo 3 or CoD.
- IPS technology
- Environmentally-friendly design
- Fully-functional stand
- Nice anti-glare
- Durable unit
- Yellow screen background complaints
- May cause eye strain
- Lacks HDMI & USB 3.0 support
7. LG 29UM68-P – Best Ultra Wide Gaming Monitor

As the saying goes – go big or go home!
What can be better than an ultra-wide gaming experience?
The LG 29UM68-P is a superb solution for those who crave big screens that pack big value.
Not only is it insanely affordable for this screen size class, but the 29UM68-P also has bountiful features to satisfy even the fussiest of gamers.
Main Features
- 21:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio
- 2560 x 1080 resolution
- +99% of sRGB coverage
- Screen Split 2.0 technology
- FreeSync support
Design & Usability
With a 29-inch diagonal, the 29UM68-P is the second largest monitor on our list.
The matte screen also boasts a 2560 x 1080 resolution with an exiting 21:9 aspect ratio, making it optimum for movie-watching too.
In spite of its large dimensions, the 29UM68-P is surprisingly lightweight, at just 11 and a half pounds.
This means that you can easily mount it on a wall to watch your favorite movies in extraordinary quality.
While some may be disappointed that it’s not a curved gaming monitor, quite a few customers view this as an advantage for using other applications (like MS Office) without distortion.
However, make sure your graphics card is up to par with the screen standards.
You can adjust brightness, Screen Split 2.0 or picture mode presets through your mouse, owing to the on-screen control feature.
Quality & Performance
For an ultra-wide model at such a low price, the 29UM68-P is undoubtedly one of the best gaming monitor gems we found.
It looks and feels highly well-built, with admirable color quality.
Unfortunately, there are complaints regarding the sturdiness of the 29UM68-P, with a few users mentioning that it wobbles.
On the other hand, a FreeSync monitor will radically improve the quality of your gameplay.
You get a thrilling amount of options specifically for games.
The 29UM68-P features 2 FPS modes, but also a dedicated RTS mode.
Furthermore, the Black Stabilizer is a must for any serious gamer, as well as the smoothness provided by Dynamic Action Sync.
In a nutshell, games like Zombie Army Trilogy, The Division, Fallout 4 or Doom will play out phenomenally.
- Very affordable for an ultra wide gaming monitor
- 3 dedicated game modes
- IPS for amazing angle viewing
- Lightweight, especially for the size
- Easy on-screen control
- Not appropriate for Mac users
- Unstable stand
- Generally poor quality control from LG
6. Dell Gaming S2716DG – Best G-Sync Gaming Monitor

When you upgrade to a G-Sync unit, you are taking your gaming to a whole other level.
The sheer smoothness simply outruns any Freesync unit by comparison.
Like you can expect, you will be paying more for a G-Sync gaming monitor, but it will all be well worth your investment.
As for our pick of the crop, the Dell Gaming S2716DG easily passed the test with flying colors.
Main Features
- Nvidia G-Sync technology
- 2560 x 1440 resolution
- 16:9 aspect ratio
- 1ms response time
- USB 3.0 support
Design & Usability
Adjustability is a breeze with the S2716DG, seeing as you can pivot, tilt, swivel and adjust the height of the monitor effortlessly.
As opposed to competitors with port limitations, the S2716DG features four USB 3.0 ports, as well as a DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 1.4.
Regrettably, a major disadvantage is the power button.
Not only is it extremely small, but it’s also hard to find on the unit.
As a result of the G-Sync technology, you can play games with strict requirements, like Guild Wars 2 or Arma 3.
In addition, it’s quite inexpensive for a monitor featuring this technology.
Compared to competing models that can exceed $1000, the S2716DG will only be in the $400 range.
If it’s your first G-Sync monitor, it will undoubtedly be the best buy.
Quality & Performance
Dell is continually praised for their sterling quality control.
In a market where bleeding and dead pixels are almost the norm, there are literally no complaints about the S2716DG.
Even though it is a TN panel, you will be blown away by the quality of images.
The integrated G-Sync will also prevent any potential screen-tearing – a gamer’s worst nightmare.
The resolution is magnificent, with 3.68 million pixels.
In other words, you’ll get almost twice the details offered through full HD.
Be that as it may, you should brace yourself for calibration hassles.
The factory settings are unacceptable, and you’ll need to have some time aside specifically for calibrating.
You should also disable the Deep Sleep option to avoid waking up problems.
- Extremely crisp images
- G-Sync provides super smooth functioning
- QHD resolution
- Well-built mount
- Excellent quality control
- Tricky calibration
- Deep Sleep option problems
- TN panel technology
5. Samsung U28E590D – Best FreeSync Gaming Monitor

Although it has a few design downsides, the image quality totally makes up for them.
Even more so, the U28E590D’s rapid response time and overall smoothness for a TN panel truly are exemplary.
By adding up all the perks, users worldwide agree that you simply can’t get any other gaming monitor with these image specs at such a low price.
Main Features
- 3840 x 2160 resolution
- 1000:1 static contrast ratio
- FreeSync technology
- PIP 2.0 feature for multitasking
- 1ms response time
Design & Usability
With a sleek black body and metallic accents, the U28E590D is an alluring unit for design-savvy customers.
Even though there were complaints regarding the monitor’s base design, Samsung was quick to remedy them.
We only regret that you can’t adjust the height of the monitor, aside from tilting.
Also, the positioning of the VESA mount at the top part of the unit may be inconvenient for some, as well as the lack of integrated speakers.
The U28E590D is happily among the Mac-friendly monitors on the market right now.
Gaming is a pleasure with it, but so are image editing and general visual content browsing.
The sleep timer is a nice perk, but the lack of flickering takes the win as the top usability feature.
Your eyes won’t undergo strain, all thanks to the Eye Saver Mode.
Quality & Performance
Images are stunning, sharp and generally splendid with the U28E590D.
There are also some complaints regarding the shakiness of the stand, so you should be precautious.
We’re sure that Samsung will take care of this issue sometime in the near future though, seeing how responsive they are to customer feedback.
For a TN panel, it’s actually quite a nice unit with a fantastic price tag attached.
The U28E590D is truly easy to install, and once it’s set up you can indulge in a breathtaking visual experience with every game.
Hook up the HDMI and DisplayPort to have fun with split screen, and make the most of the FreeSync quality.
Remember that you’re getting a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels, meaning that 1 billion colors will make your screen come to life.
If that’s not a feature to look for in the best gaming monitor, we don’t know what is.
- Supports 1 billion colors
- Large screen size (28-inch diagonal)
- Easy on the eyes
- User-friendly menu
- No flickering
- Wobbly stand
- No height adjustments available
- No USB ports
4. Acer Predator XB321HK – Best 4K Gaming Monitor

However, premium quality comes at a price.
A big price.
The XB321HK is the most expensive unit on our list, with a price resting in the +$800 range.
Still, if you’re looking to make a long-term investment for optimum conditions, this is the best gaming monitor for you.
Just pray that you won’t get a defective unit and you won’t have anything to worry about.
Main Features
- 32-inch screen size
- IPS panel

- 2 x 2W speakers
Design & Usability
Beautiful as it may be, the XB321HK is a massive gaming monitor.
Note that it has 12.2 x 29.05 x 22.91-inch dimensions and weighs 24.9 pounds, so make sure that you have the right environment for it beforehand.
The monitor is genuinely well built and sturdy, not to mention that the bezels are just the right size.
Oh, and those who hate tangled cables will appreciate the designated slot.
Compared to other gaming monitors, the XB321HK shines through a plethora of connectivity options.
You not only get an HDMI and Display Port but also four (!) USB 3.0 ports.
This is a fantastic advantage when you think that numerous monitors don’t have any USB 3.0 support at all.
It only lacks DVI input, but we could live without it.
Quality & Performance
If you’re coming from a 24-inch or even 27-inch monitor, be prepared to be completely amazed by the 32-inch screen size of the XB321HK.
It’s an instantly recognizable upgrade and you’ll most likely never go back to a smaller monitor.
It breaks our heart to tell you that quality control seems to be an alarming issue with Acer though, with many units being sent back for replacements due to dead pixels or backlight bleeding.
When Acer does get the unit right, the colors are nothing less than sublime.
With clear and bright images all the way, anyone will appreciate the ultra-high resolution on your 32” beast.
The G-Sync technology and IPS panel combo is also a dream come true for any avid gamer, with an operation so smooth that even Sade would tip her hat to the manufacturers.
- Huge premium gaming monitor
- Extraordinary 4k image quality
- Super smooth running
- 4 x USB 3.0 ports
- Remarkable response time
- Super expensive
- Heavy unit (almost 25 pounds)
- Potential quality control issues may not be worth the money

It’s difficult to find the best gaming monitor to meet your needs when on a budget.
Sure, if you have two or three hundred dollars at hand, you’re bound to find a satisfying unit.
But what if you have less than $150 to spend?

Main Features
- 1920 x 1080 resolution
- 2ms response time
- 50,000,000:1 high contrast ratio
- 6 preset video modes
- HDMI, DVI-D, and VGA (D-Sub) ports
Design & Usability
With a 24-inch diagonal and 16.1 x 22.1 x 7.8 dimensions all around, the VS248H-P is bound to fit comfortably on any desk.
Notwithstanding, users who plan on pairing it with another monitor should know that the thick bezels may be problematic.
If you want to use it on its own, you’ll definitely make the most of its space-saving design.
The VS248H-P comes with a VESA mount, meaning that you can use it as a TV screen if needed.
You’ll be able to set up the unit in no time and dig into the sweet options you have.
Firstly, you can choose from one of 6 preset video modes, namely Standard, Theater, Scenery, Game, sRGB or Night View.
Additionally, you should know that it’s among the best gaming monitor options for a multiplayer online battle area, a first-person shooter or massively multiplayer online games alike.
Quality & Performance
For such an accessible price, the VS248H-P is actually a high-quality unit.
Even though the stand has been reported as wobbly, the upper part seems to be quite well-designed.
Considering that it’s a budget monitor, it’s wonderful that you get 1080p images at 60Hz.
ASUS has integrated its Smart Contrast Ratio feature into the monitor, resulting in lively pictures.
The VS248H-P surprisingly has a 2ms response rate, which is quite fast for a budget gaming monitor.
Also, the full HD actually lives up to expectations and delivers lovely colors throughout your gameplay.
There are some ongoing complaints about the exaggerated brightness, but it’s nothing that a bit of proper calibration can’t fix.
- Extremely affordable
- Simple setup
- High resolution for a budget monitor
- VESA mount lets you hang it up
- 8th top-selling Monitor on Amazon
- Thick bezel
- Excessive brightness
- Wobbly unit
2. ViewSonic VX2452MH – Best 24 Inch Gaming Monitor

What if space is a problem for you?
In this case, you’ll be better off with the best gaming monitor in the 24-inch category.
Additionally, it’s a top option for gamers who also have a limited budget for their purchase.
But with so many monitors with 24-inch diagonals on the market, what would be the best choice overall?
We vouch for the ViewSonic VX2452MH.
Main Features
- 1080p full HD monitor
- 16:9 aspect ratio
- 2ms response rate
- 50M:1 MEGA Dynamic Contrast Ratio
- Built-in speakers
Design & Usability
All in all, the design VX2452MH is pretty neat.
Even though the frame has a shiny finish, the screen remains matte, with decent anti-glare properties.
You can tilt the unit forward or backward, but know that it does not have a vertical adjustment option.
If you want to make it taller or shorter, you get a reliable Mount-It! desk stand mount for about $35 more.
With DVI, HDMI and D-sub inputs, you can use the VX2452MH with various devices, such as gaming consoles.
Moreover, you can mount it on your wall and play that way, thanks to the compatible VESA design.
If you don’t have a headset on hand, you can also take advantage of the integrated speakers for reasonable audio quality.
Proprietary Game Mode was specially designed for upgraded gameplay.
Quality & Performance
The 50M:1 MEGA Dynamic Contrast Ratio will provide you with well-defined images as you play.
Although the refresh rate varies from 50 to 75Hz, according to the resolution, you’ll have a quality gaming experience with the VX2452MH.
Sadly though, the stand is said to be very poorly-built, and you may experience slight backlight bleeding or even washed out colors with a defective unit.
The 2ms response time should provide swift gaming, without blurring.
However, the performance may also depend on the game you’re playing.
For instance, Battlefield 4 is said to work flawlessly, whereas Halo 5 may result in screen ghosting for some players.
If you want to avoid any unpleasant surprises mid-game, you can look into its FreeSync alternative for about 10 more dollars.
- Highly affordable
- Dedicated game mode
- Multiple inputs for devices
- Super lightweight
- Windows and Mac compatibility
- Poorly made stand
- Reports of washed out colors or backlight bleeding
- Not suitable for high-end games
1. ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q – Best Gaming Monitor of 2022

If you want top quality, you’re going to have to pay for it.
That being said, the PG279Q is a little over $600 on Amazon, but it’s oh so worth it.
Come on, where else can you get an unbelievable 165Hz refresh rate at this money, not to mention being G sync compatible and having an IPS panel?
The PG279Q definitely has taken the gold medal on behalf of our team.
Main Features
- IPS panel
- G-Sync technology
- 2560 x 1440 resolution
- Response time 4ms
- 165Hz refresh rate
Design & Usability
Say goodbye to any glossy framing – the PG279Q is beautifully matte all around.
The thin bezels allow you to hook up more monitors at the same time, placing them side by side without too much space.
Naturally, you benefit from an anti-glare coating, but also from an all-around sturdy structure that won’t leave you stressing about the monitor falling over.
You can use the mount-capable PG279Q in a variety of angles, owing to the numerous adjustment options: swivel, tilt, pivot and height.
As for gaming – you name it, you can play it, whether it’s Battlefield, Overwatch, World of Warcraft or anything in between.
We also appreciate ASUS’ signature Eye Care technology implemented in this unit; we all know how eyes are post-marathon.
Quality & Performance
We want to clear something up before we get into the recurring “backlight bleeding” complaints with this unit.
The PG279Q is an IPS panel, meaning that additional light needs to pass so you can enjoy those super wide viewing angles.
Consequently, you very well might see a faded glow on the outer edges.
Don’t panic – it won’t affect your gaming experience whatsoever.
The unit itself is top quality.
As for the performance, well, it’s in a whole other league.
Can you believe that this monster has a 165Hz refresh rate?
Pair that with G-sync technology and you can only imagine how realistic, colorful, vivid, smooth and astounding playing a game with it can be.
The QuadHD resolution is the cherry on top for the best gaming monitor you can buy without spending +$1,000.
- The smoothest refresh rate on our list
- Wide 178-degree viewing angles
- Full sRGB range & massive refresh rate
- ASUS Eye Care Technology
- Sturdy build
- Backlight bleed
- Dead pixels
- On the expensive side

- Rates – What refresh rates and response rates are you looking for? 60Hz or 144Hz? 8ms or 1ms?
- Safety – Will you be marathon gaming? Do you want special eye care features?

August 18, 2018 at 10:40 pmAlthough the ASUS VS248H-P is a budget monitor that doesn’t mean it’s “cheap”. Since it was an ASUS I was expecting good quality and I wasn’t wrong. It fits nicely on the desk, the max resolution is very good for my taste and the colors are vibrant in most games.

August 22, 2018 at 6:55 amI’ve heard about the ViewSonic model from a friend and then I found it here. I bought it should be a good model. I wanted a 24 inch monitor that could handle a 1920 x 1080 resolution (at least). The only con would be the stand that I’m not really happy with. Other than that, it’s perfect.
